Oak Ridge Boys show special tribute to the late Calvin Newton, former lead singer of the group

Calvin Newton, an Oak Ridge Boys veteran, died earlier this month at the age of 93. He was the band’s lead singer for three years in the 1950s.

Newton is a member of the GMA Gospel Hall of Fame and the Tri State Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame, and also a Korean War veteran.

He was never a part of the version of the Oak Ridge Boys that most of us know today, but helped lay a foundation for the group’s success.

During his funeral, the band got up on stage and sang a tribute to their dear friend.

Calvin Newton Tribute

The band took to social media to dedicate Newton.

Here are some of our favorite songs from Calvin Newton.
