U.S. consumers could get some relief at the meat counter this year, and it is all thanks to an unlikely source.
Ag consultants with Bunge say the renewable fuel industry is helping support lower feed prices for poultry producers. As more soybeans are processed to make sustainable jet and diesel fuel, it produces more soy meal, which is a big part of animal feed. Analysts say cheaper food costs should trickle down to the consumer.
However, there is a catch. They say it could take months or even years for the cost savings to work their way through the supply chain.
