Recovery Underway: Last week’s tornado destroyed a nearly 100-year-old Iowa family farm

Recovery efforts are underway in parts of Iowa’s farm country following last week’s tornado.

The violent EF4 tornado destroyed a nearly 100-year-old, fourth-generation farm in Orient. All that remains is a lone lilac bush.

Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig toured the area last Friday and said the Quecks are an example of how one storm can destroy everything.
Naig visited several century and heritage farms sharing that time spent seeing the damage has reminded him that a farm is often a business and a family home, but that Iowa farmers are resilient.
