NASHVILLE, TENN. (RFD NEWS) — Phone calls, text messages, emails, and fake online invitations—scammers are using increasingly sophisticated tactics to target Americans, making it more difficult than ever to recognize fraud before it’s too late.
Cathy McLeer, AARP State Director for Minnesota, joined us in the studio during Wednesday’s Market Day Report to preview tonight’s AARP Live, which will focus on the latest scams, warning signs, and ways consumers can better protect themselves.
In her interview with RFD News, McLeer said fraud has become a highly organized, multi-billion-dollar industry, with scammers constantly adapting their tactics to stay ahead of regulations and consumer awareness efforts. She emphasized that anyone can become a target, regardless of age or education.
During the live program, McLeer said viewers will hear about some of the latest scams circulating this summer, including a new scam involving fake electronic invitations. The show will also cover other common fraud schemes and provide practical tips to help consumers recognize and avoid them.
AARP’s fraud experts will answer viewer questions live during the broadcast, including concerns about card skimming and other emerging scams.
In addition to the fraud discussion, viewers will have opportunities to call into the program, enter to win giveaway prizes, and hear from special guests, The Oak Ridge Boys.
AARP Live airs tonight at 7:30 p.m. Eastern / 6:30 p.m. Central on RFD-TV.
