Several California restaurants are putting meat back on their menus due to poor vegan sales

After less than enthusiastic sales, several California restaurants are putting meat back on the menu, and it comes after realizing there was no money in the vegan market.

LA-based “Burger Lords” says it was exhausting to try and build that type of community. They tell SFGate they had to start offering grass-fed beef again to keep people from walking out the door, and they note sales have been slowing climbing since.

“Margos” in Santa Monica also put meat back in the kitchen after having a vegan menu. The owners tell Eater that the business would not last operating as plant-based.

Just last month, Beyond Meat announced they are cutting 20 percent of staff due to a worse-than-expected third quarter.
