HPAI found at Wisconsin facility that houses 3 million laying hens

HPAI has now been confirmed in a large commercial flock in Wisconsin.

Brownfield Ag News reports that the virus was found in a laying hen facility that houses three million birds.

The state veterinarian says that the owner has several nearby commercial flocks. They are monitoring those birds and restricting movement at the infected facility.

This puts the virus closer to Minnesota, which lost nearly its entire flock in the 2015 outbreak.

HPAI was confirmed in neighboring Iowa last week and Illinois and Kansas over the weekend.
