From Massive Floods to Extreme Heat: The latest weather toll on eastern Kentucky

Extreme heat is plaguing farmers and rural residents in Kentucky after historic flooding affected the area.

Eastern Kentucky is doing its best to clean up after its massive floods, but now officials are warning of the risk of heat-related illnesses. This comes as some residents are still without power. A heat advisory has been issued until tomorrow evening with heat index readings in the triple digits.

The state’s governor is advocating for cooling stations saying, “We didn’t make it through the worst flooding that we have ever seen to lose somebody now to the heat.”
