Meet the farmer who grew the official White House Christmas tree

Imagine getting the call that your product was going to the White House?

Larry Smith with Mountaintop Fraser Fir won the 2018 national contest to provide the official White House Christmas tree for the Blue Room. It stood at 19.5 feet, weighed 800 pounds, and was 22 years old. He said it has been his goal since he was a high school senior in 1977.

Every year since then, he has donated all of the trees that decorate the President’s Park on the White House Ellipse.

Why does he do it? He humbly says it is his gift to America.

He spoke with RFD-TV’s own Janet Adkison about what goes into the process of growing trees and what the recognition means to him.
