MONROE, La. (RFD-TV) — The Major League Fishing (MLF) Team Series Patriot Cup is just one week away, with twelve teams gearing up to compete at a secret location in Alabama. Fans can catch all the action live starting next Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. ET, following Cow Guy Close. Catch it LIVE only on RFD-TV.

Ahead of the event, MLF angler Justin Cooper joined RFD-TV News from Louisiana to share how he’s preparing for the competition and what makes this series unique.

Cooper, who has been fishing professionally for several years, discussed his journey in professional angling and his philosophy of “fishing your strengths rather than trends,” a mindset that has guided much of his success.

Looking ahead to the Patriot Cup, Cooper explained how he studies new waters and prepares for a mystery location like Oxford, Alabama, where adaptability and instinct play a key role. He also highlighted what sets the Team Series apart—this time competing alongside Bass Fishing Hall of Famer Skeet Reese for Team Kubota. The two, he says, share mutual respect and a strategic approach to teamwork on the water.

In addition to his pro fishing career, Cooper owns an outfitting and guiding business, offering outdoor experiences that bring his passion for both land and water to others. He shared a bit of advice for everyday anglers, encouraging them to focus on confidence and consistency when targeting bass.

You can catch Justin Cooper and Team Kubota competing in the MLF Patriot Cup—live coverage begins next Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. ET, only on RFD-TV, with streaming available on RFD-TV Now.
