The Producer Price Index rose 0.2% during August

The Producer Price Index, which measures price changes before they are passed on to consumers, was released this morning.

The Index rose 0.2 percent during August, and the markets were expecting a 0.1 percent climb. On the year, it is up 1.7 percent, which is right in line with expectations.

Energy costs saw the largest decline overall, coming in nearly a percent off last month.
