Stock Show Spotlight: Corn Belt Classic Reflects Strong Cattle Demand

Superior Livestock Auction’s Roger Janes says strong buyer interest and higher price points at the Corn Belt Classic show continued cattle market optimism.

CEDAR PARK, Texas (RFD News) — Buyer participation highlighted this year’s Corn Belt Classic, with cattle bringing in stronger prices compared to recent years.

Roger Janes with Superior Livestock Auction joined us on Thursday’s Market Day Report to recap this year’s event and discuss the outlook for the cattle market.

In his conversation with RFD News, Janes said buyers from across the United States and Canada came prepared to purchase high-quality cattle at this year’s sale.

Prices ranged from about $90 to $130 above last year’s event, with values roughly $1,100 per head higher than two years ago.

Looking ahead, Janes said he expects demand to remain strong, as long as outside factors such as geopolitical events and grain markets don’t disrupt the market

He also emphasized the importance of having a marketing plan in place to help manage risk and highlighted Superior Livestock Auction’s upcoming Week in the Rockies sale in Colorado.
