This week’s Prospective Plantings Report could have a significant impact for U.S. livestock producers.
Feed rations are primarily corn-based, and livestock economists with the University of Missouri say if there are fewer corn acres this year and prices go up, that could spell bad news. Right now, they are hoping the report shows around 91 million acres.
Pre-report estimates from Allendale show corn sitting just shy of 90.5 million acres with soybeans estimated at nearly 88 million acres.
