The USDA plans to move forward with its Poultry Contract Transparency Program.
This comes after lawmakers wanted a delay of the new rule due to its complexity. The Transparency in Poultry Grower Contracting and Tournaments Rule is an update of the Packers and Stockyards Act, and it requires the creation of a live poultry dealer disclosure document to better assist growers in understanding realistic business outcomes when selling to processors.
Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says the program will move forward in February since the information is “very easily available.”
