West Plains FFA President Looks Ahead to a Career in Journalism

Smith’s chapter is getting a firsthand look at the ag sector through an FFA industry trip.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (RFD-TV) — More than 70,000 blue jackets are expected in Indianapolis this week as the 99th National FFA Convention and Expo gets underway.

However, not every learning experience is happening inside the convention hall. Some members are getting a firsthand look at agriculture through industry trips.

West Plains FFA Chapter President Addison Smith joined us on Thursday’s Market Day Report during her chapter’s trip to Nashville, where she shared how FFA helped her find a passion for journalism.

Smith currently interns for her county’s newspaper and says the organization has also helped her grow as a leader.

After initially being encouraged by her parents to join, she now serves as chapter president and encourages other members to take advantage of the opportunities FFA provides.

RFD-TV+ is streaming the entire National FFA Convention and Expo.
