World ag chief scientists are set to meet to discuss innovation and tackling Russia

USDA is underscoring the importance of ag research at this week’s G20 Meeting of Ag Chief Scientists.

Leaders from around the world are discussing global challenges. One topic dominating the conversation is the war in Ukraine. USDA Chief Scientist, Dr. Chavonda Jacobs-Young explained the U.S.'s position on Russia’s actions as “An affront to the principles we seek to affirm and our efforts to advance international science, technology, and innovation for development. In response to Putin’s aggression, the U.S. government has taken measures to limit bilateral science and technology research cooperation with the Russian government.”

Other major topics of discussion at the meeting are global food security and climate change.
