Young Farm-and-Ranching Couple Finds Sweetness on the Farm!

Kelsi and Amanda Duhon are among the finalists for the Louisiana Farm Bureau’s 2023 Young Farmer and Rancher Achievement Award.

The 2023 Louisiana Young Farmer and Rancher Achievement Award winner will be announced at the Louisiana Farm Bureau Annual Convention later this week. Two of the finalists are Kelsi and Amanda Duhon, of Lafayette Parish. For them, there’s nothing sweeter to this sixth generation farming family than living life on their operation. They’ve been involved in their local Farm Bureau for a couple of years now and have helped it grow in many ways. But that’s not all: with the help of their farm dog, Case, the Duhons are helping to grow children’s knowledge about where their food comes from. Amanda wrote a book titled Case and The Sugar Run, which takes kids on an adventure to find sugar! Along the way, he shows farm equipment and explains how a sugarcane plant grows. The book also shows Duhon’s love for farm life. Amanda says, “There’s no other way to live – and especially with a young family: putting your kids into that situation to where they appreciate nature and they appreciate the land, and growing up understanding responsibility.”
