Another state is following California’s lead looking to ban the sale of pork raised in gestation stalls. It all comes after the Supreme Court upheld California’s Prop-12 just last week.
Massachusetts residents voted to pass a similar law to California’s back in 2016 but it was put on hold pending the decision by the high court. It requires farmers in the state to give pigs, chickens, and calves enough room to move around and fully extend their limbs.
Officials there have not said when steps would be taken to implement the law, but the National Pork Producers Council warns nearly all pork products sold in the U.S. would not be allowed under the new regulations.
