Big names in comedy are visiting farms to learn all about dairy!

The Dairy Checkoff is using a big name to help put dairy in the spotlight. The group recently enlisted help from Emmy-nominated sketch comedian Vanessa Bayer, also known for her work on Saturday Night Live, to highlight modern dairy in a unique way.

“She started milking a cow by hand, and then we got to show her the real parlor, how we milk today’s age, not how we did it 50, 60 years ago. Then she got to load that milk into the parlor, hopped in with a truck driver, took it to our plant, unloaded it, and saw how we processed it and how the end result looked. And I think it was cool to take not only her but the consumer, through her eyes, through that entire process of milk out of the cow, to the parlor, out of the tank, and then to the plant. You could tell she was a professional comedian. She was hilarious to work with. Very quirky. Loved the skits I researched ahead of time for Saturday Night Live just to prep myself about who I would be working with for a week, and she was up for anything, which made the week really fun,” said New York dairy farmer Tyler Beck.

The event was all a part of “Dairy Diaries,” a show exclusively on Hulu. It showcases the hard work dairy farmers do while increasing consumer trust of where their products come from.
