California FFA Program Introduces Students to Turf Management Careers

Golden Valley FFA’s growing turf management program introduces students to careers in sports field management.

MERCED, Calif. (RFD News) — Agriculture comes in many forms, including turf management.

At Golden Valley High School, the FFA chapter is giving students hands-on experience in turf and sports field management through one of the school’s fastest-growing agriculture classes.

FFA Advisor Kevin Magill and participating students say the program teaches agricultural principles through real-world applications, helping members better understand the turf management process and the career paths available within the industry.

Turf grass management is one of 47 official National FFA Agricultural Proficiency Areas, offering students opportunities to develop specialized knowledge and experience in the field.
