Dairy Leaders on Farm Bill: Add a few sentences to allow for hearings in 2023

Dairy leaders are calling for hearings to discuss the Federal Milk Marketing Order.

Marin Bozic writes policy for the Edge Dairy farmers Co-op and tells Brownfield Ag News that lawmakers should add a few sentences to the Farm Bill that would allow a hearing to evaluate a new way of the federal order. He would also like to see new principles added to the Packers and Stockyards Act on what constitutes fairness in contracting between milk buyers and dairy farmers.

Bozic says although many producers like their regional marketing orders, updates are needed, including flexibility in Class One distribution.
