ST. LOUIS, Mo. (RFD News) — EPA has issued a temporary emergency fuel waiver clearing the way for the continued sale of E15 as the agency works to lower prices at the pump.
Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Geoff Cooper joined us on Monday’s Market Day Report for a closer look at the waiver and the push for year-round E15.
In his conversation with RFD News, Cooper said the move accelerates the transition to winter-grade gasoline and gives refiners and blenders more options as fuel supplies remain tight. He said it also allows blenders to continue using E15, which could help extend supplies and provide some relief at the pump.
Cooper said a permanent year-round E15 solution is still needed to eliminate uncertainty created by temporary waivers. He is hopeful Congress will take up legislation allowing year-round sales when lawmakers return from recess.
