Prime Beef Demand Climbs as Cattle Supplies Tighten

The brand sold a record 63 million pounds of Prime beef even as fewer cattle qualified.

WOOSTER, Ohio (RFD-TV) — Consumer demand for premium beef remains strong despite tight cattle supplies and higher prices.

Certified Angus Beef reports global sales of more than 1.2 billion pounds, down less than 1% from last year.

Sales of the brand’s top-tier Prime beef increased more than 12%, reaching a record 63 million pounds.

The growth comes even as the number of cattle qualifying for the brand fell 6%, with the U.S. cowherd continuing to shrink.
