Imogene Ingredients Highlights Farmatan for Cattle Gut Health

Imogene Ingredients points to recent feedlot results and more than a century of Farmatan use.

DES MOINES, Iowa (RFD-TV) — With more cattle moving this time of year, gut health is top of mind for producers.

Joe Knopp with Imogene Ingredients recently joined us on Market Day Report to discuss Farmatan, an organic product used to support gut health in stressed cattle.

Knopp says Farmatan has been used for more than 100 years and helps recoat the mucosal membrane in the gut.

He pointed to a recent Nebraska feedlot trial, where cattle using Farmatan saw a 33-pound live-weight advantage and improvement in severe liver abscesses.

He also discussed a customer who used Farmatan after bringing in 500 calves from different locations. Three weeks later, Knopp says only three calves had required treatment.

Farmatan can be used as a dry supplement or liquid drench, giving producers different options for incorporating the product into their operations.
