Farm Bureau hosts “Ag in the Classroom” workshop for Louisiana teachers

Getting agriculture curriculum in schools starts with the teachers! This Week in Louisiana Agriculture shows us how educators are getting new tools to do just that.

Sometimes the life of a teacher looks a lot like their students. On a recent afternoon in Sabine Parish, Louisiana, ag educators gathered for some after-school learning at an Ag in the Classroom workshop hosted by the parish’s local Farm Bureau.

Paul Morris is the president of Sabine Parish Farm Bureau, and he is excited to host this event for the ultimate benefit of the children in his community

“There are a lot of influences out there in the world -- from cartoon shows to comic books to social media -- that tend to tear down agriculture, and [students] need to know the other side of the story,” Morris said.

Farm Bureaus across the country host Ag in the Classroom programming, so if you want to learn more, be sure to reach out to your local Farm Bureau office.
