Voters can choose from three design options, including Tennessee’s original Ag Tag, a modernized version of the current plate, or an entirely new design.

Tennessee Department of Agriculture

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (RFD News) — The Tennessee Department of Agriculture has launched a public vote to select a new Ag Tag design as the iconic plate reaches its 30th anniversary on the road.

The specialty plate has been a familiar symbol of Tennessee agriculture since 1996, supporting programs that strengthen agricultural education, youth leadership, and rural development across the state.

Two of the proposed updates feature Tennessee branding elements, such as the Pick Tennessee Products logo, the FFA emblem, and the 4-H logo, to highlight agricultural education programs.

The public can choose from three design options:

  • The original Ag Tag design
  • A modernized version of the current Ag Tag (including Pick TN Products, FFA, and 4-H logos)
  • A new Ag Tag design (including Pick TN Products, FFA, and 4-H logos)

Revenue from the Ag Tag program is deposited into the Tennessee Agricultural Development Fund and supports initiatives such as 4-H, FFA, Ag in the Classroom, agricultural marketing efforts, and rural youth leadership programs.

State officials say the milestone is an opportunity to reflect on the plate’s long-standing impact while encouraging Tennesseans to continue supporting agriculture through the program. Once voting concludes, the selected design will be submitted for approval and production before becoming available to vehicle owners statewide.

Voting is open through June 23 at 4 p.m. CT.
