Indiana Names 2026 Excellence in Agriculture Award Winner

Whitley County’s Justin Johnson was selected for the statewide recognition.

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (RFD-TV) — Justin Johnson has been named the winner of the 2026 Indiana Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ag Professionals Excellence in Agriculture Award.

Johnson grew up on a farm and says agriculture has long influenced his life. He now works with precision agriculture technology and stays involved with Indiana Farm Bureau, continuing a tradition that spans several generations of his family.

Johnson has also been involved in rural broadband efforts, which he says are increasingly important as modern farm technology depends on reliable access.

The 2022 Census of Agriculture shows around 12 percent of Indiana’s farming population is under the age of 35, or roughly 11,000 young farmers.
