Michigan confirms first HPAI case in poultry this year

The case, which occurred at a facility between Lansing and Grand Rapids, culled more than 2 million birds.

Over the weekend, APHIS confirmed another major case of High-Path Avian Flu in a Michigan poultry flock.

This case involves nearly 2 million birds, and it happened at a facility between Grand Rapids and Lansing. It comes just days after the large case was reported at a Cal-Maine facility in Texas where more than 1.8 million had to be culled.

Just last week, the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) also confirmed the presence of the virus in the state’s dairy herd. Those cattle had traveled from Texas.
