A family in California came back home to their vacation rental and discovered a unique... gift.

They called Santa Rosa exterminator, Nick Castro for a mealworm inspection. When he cut a hole in the bedroom wall, more than 700 pounds of acorns came flooding in the room.

Castro, owner of Nick’s Extreme Pest Control, said it “felt like it was never going to end,” considering he filled 8 garbage bags full.

The culprit? Acorn woodpeckers, which are known for hoarding large amounts of these nuts. They pecked holes in the chimney of the two-story home. Castro estimated they had been adding to the stockpile over several years.
