Preparing for the Patriot Cup with MLF Bass Pro Angler Marshall Hughes

Hughes shares how he’s preparing for the competition, his partnership with Bass Fishing Hall of Famer Mark Davis, and his journey from cattle ranching to professional bass fishing.

HEMPHILL, Texas (RFD-TV) Major League Fishing Bass Pro Angler Marshall Hughes is gearing up for next week’s Patriot Cup, the third of four team series events this fall, where 12 teams will head to a secret location in Alabama to battle it out for top honors.

Hughes joined us on Market Day Report to share how he’s preparing for the competition, his partnership with Bass Fishing Hall of Famer Mark Davis, and his journey from cattle ranching to professional bass fishing.

In his interview with RFD-TV News, Hughes discussed how anglers prepare for an event where the fishing location is kept under wraps until competition day, as well as how he and Davis are strategizing for success. He also reflected on his background in agriculture, having studied cattle ranching in college before making the switch to professional fishing.

Beyond the water, Hughes shared how his love for the outdoors extends to bow hunting for whitetail deer, and how both passions connect through discipline, patience, and respect for nature.

Catch all the action from the MLF Team Series Patriot Cup live starting next Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Eastern, following Cow Guy Close—Catch it Live on RFD-TV, with streaming coverage beginning at 10 a.m. ET only RFD-TV Now.
