WASHINGTON, D.C. (Market Day Report Weekend) — As Americans celebrate Independence Day, a familiar summer tradition is once again helping support farm and ranch families facing difficult times.
Farm Rescue Development Officer Terry Johnston joined us on Market Day Report Weekend to discuss the return of Busch Light’s limited-edition patriotic “For the Farmers” cans, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Farm Rescue.
In his interview with RFD News anchor Eliza Petry, Johnston said the partnership is especially meaningful because Farm Rescue was founded on the idea of neighbors helping neighbors. He said Anheuser-Busch’s continued support enables the organization to expand its mission of providing free assistance with planting, harvesting, livestock feeding, and haying to farm and ranch families experiencing injury, illness, natural disasters, or other unexpected hardships.
He noted that donations generated through the partnership have helped Farm Rescue respond to hundreds of requests for assistance, allowing families to keep their operations running during some of their most difficult moments. Johnston said each successful assistance case helps preserve not only a farm operation, but often a family’s livelihood and legacy.
Johnston added that the partnership goes beyond financial support. The cans prominently feature the U.S. Farmed seal, indicating that at least 95% of Busch Light’s agricultural ingredients are sourced from American farms. He said that recognition helps celebrate the essential role U.S. farmers play in producing both food and agricultural products consumers enjoy every day.
The patriotic design also reflects what Johnston called the natural connection between farming and patriotism. He said agriculture has been part of America’s story since the nation’s founding, making the Fourth of July an ideal time to recognize the resilience, hard work, and dedication of farm and ranch families across the country.
Since partnering with Farm Rescue, Busch Light has helped raise more than $1.5 million, supporting assistance for more than 1,300 farm and ranch families. This summer, the company is also celebrating America’s 250th anniversary by taking its new “ComBar”—a mobile bar built from a real combine—to fairs and agricultural events across the country, continuing to highlight the people who keep American agriculture moving forward.
