Rural Health Matters: Heart Health

University of Nebraska-Lincoln President Dr. Jeffrey Gold talks about heart health and preventive care for viewers in rural communities.

LINCOLN, Neb. (RFD NEWS) — Heart health is an important concern at every stage of life, and understanding how to maintain a healthy heart can benefit people of all ages. From managing cholesterol to monitoring blood pressure, staying proactive is key.

Dr. Jeffrey Gold, president of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, joined us on Wednesday’s Rural Health Matters segment to discuss heart health and what steps individuals can take to protect themselves.

In his interview with RFD NEWS, Dr. Gold emphasized that heart health varies across stages of life and encouraged viewers to be aware of risk factors early, even if they feel healthy and active.

Gold also highlighted the importance of regular checkups and monitoring key health indicators, such as cholesterol and blood pressure, and shared strategies for maintaining cardiovascular health throughout the lifespan.
