BROOKINGS, S.D. (RFD News) — A group of Peruvian wheat millers recently toured South Dakota fields, farms and grain facilities to learn more about American wheat.
Jonathan Kleinjan, executive director of the South Dakota Wheat Commission, said the visit was organized by U.S. Wheat Associates, which works to develop export markets for U.S. wheat.
“Ranging from people that make cookies to pasta to all sorts of different wheat products. We had one representative accompany them from U.S. Wheat Associates. U.S. Wheat Associates is the organization that set up the visit. They are an organization that we pay dues to at the South Dakota Wheat Commission that helps to develop export markets for U.S. wheat.”
South Dakota was the group’s first stop, where the delegation was particularly interested in hard red spring and winter wheats.
