HOUSTON, TEXAS (RFD NEWS) — The Houston Stock Show is giving young exhibitors a chance to shine, and for one competitor, this year carries special meaning.

From calf scrambles to showing multiple species, GG Gosda has participated in stock shows since she was a high school freshman. Now in her final year, she’s taking on the ring with a steer.

RFD Network’s Kirbe Schnoor spoke with Gosda about the work behind her project and the connection she’s built along the way.

“I’ll be here late at night, and I’ll just lay with him and cuddle with him. He is just the sweetest thing in the entire world. He is my favorite animal. It’s going to be hard to say goodbye,” Gosda said.

Gosda says that connection is a major part of what drives her in competition.

“This is definitely my favorite species to show, and my favorite thing about showing is getting connected with the animal,” she said. “And learning how to take care of an animal and having that responsibility. I really don’t know what I’d do without it.”

The Houston Stock Show remains one of the largest scholarship and educational contributors in the country, awarding more than $14 million in scholarships this year alone.
