NASHVILLE, TENN. (RFD-TV) — The Tennessee Department of Agriculture is helping connect veterans with resources to pursue careers in farming and agriculture.
Kacey Troup, an agri-tourism business consultant with the state ag department, joined us on Friday’s Market Day Report to discuss their new online hub, which provides step-by-step guidance for veterans looking to start or expand an agricultural operation.
In her interview with RFD-TV News, Troup outlined the resources available on the webpage, including permitting guidance, business planning tools, and other support designed to help veterans build careers in agriculture. She also discussed how the hub connects veterans with additional Tennessee agriculture resources and shared examples of how other veterans have successfully transitioned into farming.
Troup also emphasized that while Veterans Day is observed annually, the impact of veterans’ service and their contributions to rural communities is felt year-round.
These “USDA Foods” are provided to USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) nutrition assistance programs, including food banks that operate The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), and are a vital component of the nation’s food safety net.
