Meet the McCarty Family! Dayton and Lauren McCarty of Mountain View in Stone County, Arkansas, are the Ark. Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Achievement Award finalists!

Dayton is a fourth-generation poultry farmer and knew — even as a young kid — that he wanted to be a farmer like his dad. Lauren also grew up on a farm that her dad managed. Farming has always been a way of life for them.

“Both my mom and my dad’s family had cattle and I just really fell in love with it,” Dayton said. “I knew I was going to do it, I guess, from when I was born. I just always was in it. I never played sports, I just always helped Dad, and that was what I loved to do and still love to do it.”

Their farm comprises six broiler houses and a registered Black Angus herd, and they also produce commercial hay.
