USDA has doled out the first round of funding to boost domestic fertilizer.

Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack is at the Commodity Classic and announced nearly $30 million of funding for projects in six states. They are all expected to increase fertilizer capacity for this crop year and should come online in the near future.

More money is to come, but Vilsack says in this first round, more than 350 businesses applied for $3 billion in funding.

RFD-TV’s Mark Oppold had the chance to talk with Secretary Vilsack at Commodity Classic for an exclusive interview regarding the announcement.
