PARK FALLS, Wis. (RFD News) — Forest products add more than $400 billion to the United States’ GDP each year, while also playing a role in how forests are managed.
The U.S. Forest Service conducts long-term research on wildfires and other forest conditions to help managers make decisions on the ground, including how to use wood sustainably.
The Forest Service says roughly 20 billion cubic feet of newly cut wood are harvested each year in the U.S., which includes wood used for products both domestically and abroad.
