Armistead Farm Brings Fresh Food and Farming Education to Middle Tennessee

The Franklin-area development aims to connect residents with farming while preserving agricultural land.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (RFD-TV) — A new agricultural community is taking shape in Franklin, Tennessee, with plans to provide fresh food and hands-on agricultural education.

Armistead Farm managers Matt Nesbitt and Geoff Hartnell joined us on Friday’s Market Day Report to discuss the project, which includes a five-acre market garden on roughly 200 acres of land.

The farm recently broke ground on eight hoop houses to support vegetable production and a future community-supported agriculture (CSA) program.

Nearly 50 volunteers have already helped with construction, while future plans include orchards, livestock and residential housing expected to begin construction in early 2028.
