With the virus spreading among cattle, USDA’s research arm is looking to see if a vaccine would be effective against not only HPAI, but Bovine Flu-A Virus.
Just recently in France, an HPAI vaccine test showed promising results. Earlier this year, Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack said he believes an avian flu vaccine could eventually be designed, but some poultry health officials doubt a vaccine for birds would be realistic given flock sizes here in the United States.
