Aggieville Showdown Brings Competition and Community to Kansas

Organizers say the event helps bridge the gap between producers and consumers

MANHATTAN, KANSAS (RFD News) — The sixth annual Aggieville Showdown is set to take place this weekend, bringing exhibitors from across the country to compete in the Grand Drive. The event will take place in Manhattan’s historic Aggieville district, combining livestock competition with live music and a western fashion show.

Event founder Christian Calliham joined RFD News on Monday’s Market Day Report to preview what attendees can expect.

In his conversation with RFD NEWS, Calliham says the event also serves a larger purpose beyond the ring and hopes it will help connect producers with consumers who may not have a background in agriculture.

“We have a lot of consumers that it may just be a normal Saturday night for them,” Calliham continued. “Our producers, who are experts in the industry, get to visit with consumers. If you think about today, consumers are even further removed from the farm. This allows that natural opportunity to come together.”

More information about the livestock show can be found on the event’s website.
