Almost 30,000 birds were culled in the Golden State due to HPAI

After days without a reported case of High Pathogenic Avian Influenza, a new case was detected in California.

The outbreak happened at a facility in the Northern portion of the state, with just shy of 30,000 birds lost. USDA has not specified what kinds of birds were infected.

Since the outbreak began nearly a year ago, nearly 58 million birds have died.
