Crisis Averted: Nashville community steps up in a big way to ensure 50,000 people are fed this Thanksgiving

2,400 turkeys were donated to Tracy Lawrence’s Turkey Fry after a refrigerated truck broke down, spoiling 650 turkeys

Tracy Lawrence’s 20th annual Mission:Possible Turkey Fry started in panic after a refrigerated truck broke down and ruined 650 turkeys out of the 3,600 total.

The Nashville community heard word of the crisis, due to social media posts from Tracy and other country music artists, and stepped in to replace them. The result was astonishing: more than 2,400 turkeys were contributed, almost four times the original amount, to make the total 5,300 cooked and frozen turkeys distributed.

“That’s why they call us the Volunteer State,” said Tracy Lawrence.

More than 50,000 meals will be provided for those in need this Thanksgiving season.
