Dairy Month Spotlight: Minnesota Dairy Farmer Champions Industry

Charles Krause says farm tours, consumer education and growing demand for dairy protein are creating new opportunities for the industry.

BUFFALO, Minn. (RFD News) — As National Dairy Month comes to a close, RFD News is continuing its conversations with dairy producers from across the country.

Charles Krause of Dairy Management Inc. joined us on Friday’s Market Day Report to discuss his family farm and the importance of advocating for the dairy industry.

In his conversation with RFD News, Krause said his family milks about 400 Holstein cows while raising young stock and growing feed for the herd.

Krause also discussed the importance of opening his farm to visitors, saying face-to-face interactions help consumers better understand how dairy products are produced and the care that goes into raising cattle.

As a dairy checkoff leader, Krause said growing consumer interest in protein has created new opportunities for dairy products, particularly cottage cheese, while continued export growth also remains an area of excitement for the industry.
