HARLAN COUNTY, Neb. (RFD News) — Drought continues to pressure Nebraska ranchers as limited grass and water force difficult management decisions.
Nebraska rancher Mike Bartels said producers are hauling feed, monitoring livestock water supplies and making careful decisions to keep cow herds together. He said rebuilding a herd can take years once cows are sold.
Bartels said timely rainfall will be critical as dry conditions continue through the summer.
