Farmland Market Holds Firm as Sales Stay Active

ASFMRA says active sales and strong land values continue despite tighter farm finances.

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (RFD News) — A number of factors continue to shape the farmland market.

Luke Worrell with the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers joined us on Wednesday’s Market Day Report to discuss mid-season trends in the state’s farmland market.

In his conversation with RFD News, Worrell says farmland sales have remained active through late spring and early summer, with estate settlements continuing to bring farms to market. He says local farmers and investors remain the primary buyers, though tighter farm finances could influence land values in the months ahead.

While he expects results to vary by location, Worrell says farmland values have generally remained strong and does not anticipate a sharp decline through the rest of the year.
