Georgia farmer platforms his passion for farming in hopes of finding real love on Reality TV

Georgia’s agriculture industry made its way to the small screen recently, thanks to one unlucky-in-love producer willing to put himself out there on reality television — and hopefully, set the record straight for passionate farmers at the heart of the industry.

Cattle rancher Hunter Grayson, of Oconee County, Georgia, recently embarked on an unexpected adventure in hopes of finding love—reality television.

“Nothing else has worked so far,” Grayson said when asked that lingering, ‘Million-Dollar Question’ of why he chose reality TV to try to find a match.

Grayson’s life is deeply rooted in farming, a passion he has cherished for years. With a family history steeped in agriculture, his connection to the land and livestock runs deep. Taking the reins of Black Hat Ranch in 2009, he assumed the role of steward, nurturing a legacy that spans generations.

While reality TV may not have brought him lasting romance, it did provide a unique platform for Hunter to showcase his dedication to farming and animal agriculture.

“As an agriculturalist, I wanted to put our best foot forward for animal agriculture, especially in the state of Georgia,” he explained. For him, accepting the platform was an opportunity to dispel misconceptions and highlight the essential role of agriculture in our society.

“We’re always shown in — not always the best light,” he said, expressing a desire to convey the industry’s commitment to producing quality food for consumers.

The experience on reality TV allowed Hunter to reflect on his life’s trajectory. He chuckled about the “10-year plan” he once envisioned, noting that life often has different plans in store. Still, one thing remains constant: his love for farming.

“I’ll never be too far removed from that at any point in time in my life,” he said.

Grayson said, for now, he relishes the simple pleasures of ranching, rodeos, and roping — finding solace in the familiar embrace of agriculture until the day he finds the perfect person with which to share it.
