No Need to Worry: Demand for U.S. meat remains good

The U.S. Meat Export Federation says while exports are down 15 percent from last year, demand remains good.

CEO Dan Halstrom says this year’s headwinds were not expected after high levels of beef exports last year, and exports to Mexico are actually up 20 percent this year with the food service industry in the Caribbean also adding to the gains. The Philippines and Japan are holding steady.

Halstrom says as more retail and food service industries come back online after the pandemic, it will be something to monitor in the coming months.
