Western Leg of Pro Farmer Crop Tour Moves Into Iowa

Nebraska results came in below last year and the three-year average.

LE MARS, Iowa (RFD News) — The Pro Farmer Crop Tour is continuing across the Corn Belt, with scouts moving from Nebraska into Iowa on the western leg.

Ted Seifried with Zaner Ag Hedge joined us on Wednesday’s Market Day Report for an update on what scouts are seeing.

In his conversation with RFD News, Seifried said his route made 17 stops across Nebraska, where pollination issues were common but corn yields were still looking decent. He described the state’s crop as closer to average.

Pro Farmer’s Nebraska results came in below last year and the three-year average. Seifried noted that irrigated corn was performing better than dryland fields.

Soybean pod counts are also running below last year, but Seifried said continued rainfall could help the crop finish stronger and reach more of its yield potential.
