To celebrate National Dairy Month we travel to Axtell, Kansas, and enjoy a summer day with the Buessings family.
The dairy family cares for their herd of Registered Holsteins, manages the land, and takes time away from the farm to ignite their competitive spirit. They say spending time together is the ultimate gift.
“I think the secret to our success has been the cows over the long haul they paid the way,” says Richard Buessings.
His son, Roy, says being a dairy farmer is just one of those things he enjoys, and it is just a way of life for him and his family.
Together, the Buessings raise 280 cows as well as cut their own hay and silage.
