FOND DU LAC, Wisc. (RFD News) — A Wisconsin dairy is showing how agriculture can produce more than milk.
Vir-Clar Farms has invested in renewable energy since 2004. After years of using methane to generate electricity, the farm now cleans and processes the gas into renewable transportation fuel.
The operation produces enough renewable natural gas each year to power the gasoline equivalent of about 1,000 cars. Owners say no matter how the operation grows, every decision starts with what’s best for the cows.
